The Gulf-lubricated Aston Martin Vantage GTEs have finished the season in style by taking both the LM GTE Pro and LM GTE Am category wins in the final World Endurance Championship race of 2014 – the Six Hours of Sao Paulo.

Double Victory for Gulf and AMR in WEC Finale

Darren Turner (GB) and Stefan Mücke (DE) in their blue and Orange #97 Vantage GTE were always in contention in what was an eventful race and, having lost out from the deployment of the safety car early in the race, fought back and were the beneficiaries of a safety car late in the day, that meant they could run to the finish without having to pit for fuel near the end of the race.

The #99 Vantage GTE of Darryl O’Young (HK), Fernando Rees (BR) and Alex MacDowall (GB), came home 5th in the category, having led at various times during the race.

Victory for GTE Am World Title Runner-Up #98 Vantage GTE of Pedro Lamy (PT), Paul Dalla Lana (CA) and Christoffer Nygaard (DN), over the Champion #95 Vantage GTE of David Heinemeier Hansson (DN) Kristian Poulsen (DN) and Nicki Thiim (DN) gave Gulf’s Motorsport partners, Aston Martin racing their fifth 1-2 of the 2014 season in GTE Am – a hugely impressive achievement, especially considering the incredibly close and competitive nature of the category.

With this double class win, Aston Martin confirmed that it will finish the season as the most successful manufacturer in WEC History – with all of its victories, now 19 in number, achieved using Gulf Engine Oil, Transmission lubricant and Brake Fluid.

Congratulations to all, on a fantastic season.
