19th and 20th November 2011 were definitely exciting racing days for Gulf brand lovers with the resounding success of  British sport car star Danny Watts who raced the all new Gulf Oil Marine liveried McLaren MP4-12C in the Macau GT race.

Danny Watts and the United Autosports team delivered a credible third place, despite this being the first outing for the new MP4-12C GT3 in Asia. This year’s race was the third in succession of Gulf Oil Marine sponsored cars in the Star River Windsor Arch Macau GT Cup following 2009 and 2010 comparable successes, while Danny Watts had also a good reason to celebrate this podium for his 10th anniversary race in Macau.

The Macau GP event attracted a total of 65,000 attendees over the four days. More than 20,000 spectators attended the event on each of the two racing days with Sunday traditionally being the F3 Grand Prix event. As usual many media organizations were present providing comprehensive Asian and international press coverage.

The fierce competition for the podium between the works prepared Audi R8 LMS, a Lamborghini LP-560 and the new McLaren served up a scintillating event for motor sport lovers and created an amazing atmosphere for the race.

This close competition  together with the renowned challenging nature of the circuit where cars have to virtually  “kiss the barriers” to achieve good lap times has been the proving ground for many of the great GT and F1 drivers over the years.
